This practice centers on nostalgia, shaped by growing up with Bollywood and the experience of watching a world that always felt larger than life. The work reflects a personal connection to the heightened emotion and drama that define these films, where colour, expression, and storytelling come together intensely and memorably.

The works consist of hand-painted portraits of iconic Bollywood stars, depicted in character from films that formed an important part of this experience. Each piece focuses on capturing not just the likeness of the actor, but the emotion and presence of the role itself. These figures are approached as familiar and powerful images, carrying a sense of drama that feels both personal and culturally shared.

Created using acrylic and oil paints, the paintings are built through careful layering, detail, and attention to expression. Bold colours play an important role, echoing the visual language of classic Bollywood posters and cinema, while also amplifying the emotional intensity within each work. The process remains tactile and deliberate, allowing each piece to hold a sense of depth and individuality.

Rather than simply recreating film imagery, the practice becomes a way of holding onto moments that felt vivid and formative. It reflects an ongoing interest in the scale, emotion, and theatricality of Bollywood, approached through a personal lens. Through these works, there is an attempt to revisit and preserve the feeling of encountering something grand, dramatic, and deeply engaging.
