My artistic practice explores themes of identity, memory, urban culture and music, all which come together to form a personalised narrative of my own lived expressions and experiences. The mediums I use to achieve this are painting, 3D works (ceramics), graffiti and videography; these are skills I have developed overtime and they mostly became integral to furthering my visual communication skills. For example, videography enabled me to properly explore my music in a visual capacity and opened up new skills like working with ceramics for prop and mask making. I would say however that my main medium is painting with oils and acrylics, with my main inspirations being Willem De Kooning and Jean Michel Basquiat. Since early on in my practice I found these artists and others from the ‘Abstract Expressionism’ period to inspire me most, something about the liberation and freedom the works would bear is something I wanted to be able to do. Fast forward to now, to be expressive is something that is key within my work.
